Tai Chi

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a healing/martial art that combines martial arts movements with Qi (energy) circulation, breathing, and stretching techniques. It utilizes the ancient philosophy of Yin-Yang and the Five Element theories for its foundation and to establish its training principles.

The experience of hundreds of years has shown that practicing Tai Chi can improve ones health, reduce tension, and cure a number of diseases such as high blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, stomach ailments, heart problems, and nervousness. The same techniques that were capable of developing internal Qi for martial arts combat, also proved to be effective as life prolonging, healing, and rejuvenating exercises. Today, Tai Chi is best known by the millions of participants around the world for its health benefits.

The beginning course taught at our school is the standardized 24 posture Tai Chi. This course is taught in a 12 week period. In this course, students will learn the basic warm up exercise, a meridian Qigong set, the 24 Posture Tai Chi, and the theories behind Tai Chi.

This course is designed for general health, stress reduction, and for coordination. It is also designed as an energy exercise for people working in a sedentary situation to improve their energy circulation; and for overly active people to calm down and smooth out the energy in their body.

Individuals that have completed the beginning course are welcome to join the Tai Chi Intensive Class and other intermediate classes. Intermediate classes in Yang Style Tai Chi (Long Form), Chen Style Tai Chi, Tai Chi Sword, Tai Chi Saber, 48 Posture Tai Chi, 42 Posture Tai Chi and others are periodically offered.

Twelve week courses.  Please check the New Courses link for current classes.  No open enrollment.
